Potty Training...

IS THE PITS! I would rather change poopy diapers than clean up accidents all over my house. It is so frustrating that instead of making potty time a fun and positive thing for the kids (Jaylie and Maddox, a little boy I tend), they run away or cry when the potty timer goes off again. I have decided you cannot teach a child how to go pee, they have to figure it out themselves. Jaylie can make herself go pee in the potty when she needs too, but she hasn't figured out how to tell me when she needs to go pee so we can run to the potty. Now I just want to run away and cry when the potty timer goes off. If there is a better way to do this, by all means please let me know! It is one thing to have to potty train your own child, because you can do it your way and when you want to. I get to potty train on someone else's terms. I really don't think he is ready, but what can I do if they drop him off with only undies and no diapers? I need a potty training genie. blah.

Oh man! That doesn't sound fun at all! I just started trying to potty train David. I am watching him now. The problem is, I only have him half the day and his mom doesn't want to put any effort into it. So she would rather just leave him in diapers. But I am going to start training Cassy soon and I don't think I should have to change a three year old's diapers when my kids are all potty trained.

I totally agree with waiting until they are ready. Dakota just trained herself when she was ready. I tried forever with Charly, but when she was ready, it was no big deal. It's also easier when they can talk, and actually tell you they need to go.

On the flip side, Rebecca is already potty training her baby and she is only 15 months. She has her cousin-in-law watch Kaitlyn and another cousin. The babysitter sits them on the potties together and reads, sings, and paints their nails.

I guess what I am trying to say is, just do whatever works for you and the kids. And GOOD LUCK!

All I can say is good luck! You can do it. Maybe you should run away crying and the kids will look at you like you're nuts.
